Glitter Studio is a studio that specializes in creating artwork and teaching mineral painting. established in 2024, is committed to researching and promoting mineral painting, discovering the fun and exploring the value of mineral arts. The studio lets everyone know about mineral arts through public activities such as teaching and lectures.
The studio got its name from one day when I was taking pictures of my paintings. The sunlight jumped between the mineral pigments, floating so briskly and touching my heart. The English "Glitter" means to produce a lot of small, bright flashes of reflected light. A small mineral particle will have different edges, angles and facets. The refracted light may be subtle, but when many particles gather together, the shining light cannot be underestimated. Just like everyone has their own unique light, seeking ways to shine and can be seen or illuminate others.
Manto LO, graduated from the Bachelor of Visual Arts program at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2022.
When she was in college, she visited the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, Gansu Province in China. Although the pigments used in the thousand-year-old murals inside were covered with dust, the color has not faded and is still shining brightly to amaze every visitor. Only then did she realizes that the pigments were minerals and some local soil, and she marvels at the creation of nature and the skillful hands of unknown craftsmen. These inspired her artwork. After graduation, she decided to focus on her artwork and teaching lessons about mineral painting.

This unusual and unfamiliar art medium uses glue as an adhesive, which can be mixed with mineral pigments to stick on the paper. In China, it is called Yancai (the color of rocks), in Taiwan it is called Eastern Gouache, and in Japan it is called Nihonga. Since the establishment of the studio, Manto has visited China and Japan to study mineral painting, and has experience in individual and group teaching. She hopes to let more people know this ancient but unusual art medium through artwork and teaching.
